During my internship at Microsoft, I tackled a crucial challenge in Teams—excessive and scattered notifications that overwhelmed users, causing missed critical updates and reduced productivity. The goal was to reduce noise, simplify triage, and ensure high-priority messages received immediate attention.

Approach:

• Conducted user research and competitive analysis to understand pain points.
• Proposed solutions like Pull Notifications Vault, Contextual Notifications, and Notification Hierarchy to reduce cognitive load.
• Designed actionable, contextually anchored notifications to improve user response time.

Impact:

• Reduced notification fatigue by prioritizing critical messages.
• Streamlined user workflow by anchoring notifications closer to their source.

This project focused on designing humane and efficient notification systems, ensuring users could stay informed without constant disruption.
